Then back to Pretoria...

Well, it's the southern hemisphere so the seasons are backwards... sort of. Anyway, my pal Alexa (my friends 14 year old daughter) has a holiday from school this week so we are hanging out...

We went to the mall the first day so we had to kick it up a little bit the rest of my stay... so we went to a lion park just outside of Pretoria. It was like an outdoor zoo, but with a drive through... but we got pretty close to the animals. Yes, those are real lions sleeping in their den... don't worry, they we only cubs. Dad always did say that Daniel belonged in a lions den... : )


The keeper told me that if you show feAr, they can sense it and will snap at you... and they did... a little bit. I got my nerve and was able to actually pet a couple of them but only while they were asleep.

Then we went for a ride in the car through the park...



This guy we called Phil... he was pretty much the only one awake...


He was about 6 feet from my window, which had to rolled down to get the best shots.

There were other lions, but like I said, they were mainly sleeping... or something.
